One Year

So much can change in a year.  For us it was packing all our favorite belongings, shipping 3 pallets to the other side of the world, saying good-bye to loved ones, and boarding a plane for Australia.

One year ago today, we got the email that said our visas were approved.  I still have that email.  You can read about that day here.

About a month ago my husband called and asked me what the date was that our visas were approved.  He couldn't remember if it was September 4th or 8th.  I just supposed he was doing paperwork, so I reminded him that it was September 8th.

The other day he tells me he arranged a babysitter for the kids so we could go out for dinner.  I didn't think much of it.  We have only gone on one date since we have been here which was for our anniversary in May.  We were long overdue.  But today he reminds me of the date and what happened a year ago, and why he arranged a sitter for today.  What a guy!

So tonight we dropped off the kids at a friend's house, and went to the wharf for dinner.  This is one of my favorite places to eat.  You can watch all the boats and sit right at the water's edge.  I do love it here, but tend to panic when we come with the kids.  The photo below shows my food and where the edge is!  We can eat here for around $35, that's sharing a steak & fish dinner, drinks, and ice cream.  For Darwin that's cheap!

Sometimes I wish God would give us a small glimpse into our future.  To have seen these photos a year ago would have made my heart skip a beat.  I am so thankful that God has brought us here to Australia.  I am thankful for the life He has given us.  I am blessed.

Jen, I am so happy for you! Our God is amazing!!! Our circumstances of "waiting" are different than yours, but when we are having a rough time we just need to look out the window and say "You know what, we are HERE!" We also love to look back and reminisce of all that God has done to get us here
