I just finished reading Esther: Reflections from an Unexpected Life by Jennifer Spivey. This is probably now in my top 10 favorite books! I cannot get over how in depth and thorough the book was. I learned a lot about Israel's history. I've read through the book of Esther (in the Bible) before, but never realized how much I missed.
One random thing was about Saul. If he had obeyed God and destroyed the Amalekites (I Samuel 15:1-3), Esther would not have had to go through all this, because Haman was an Amalekite. Now if Saul had obeyed God and destroyed the Amalekites we probably wouldn't have the book of Esther, but it got me wandering. If I disobey God, what kind of consequences will my children have to deal with later on? A book that makes me think...I love it!
No matter what season of life you are in this book will be an encouragement to you. It is broken up into days/weeks, and the chapters are short. It's an easy read, yet thought provoking. I highly encourage you to read this book! Go here and purchase it for only $13.00 and the shipping is free! She will even sign the copy for you!
Let me know if you decide to get it.

Ooh! I am going to add this to my "to read" list. It sounds great! I took Beth Moore's Esther study, and learned so much, but so much wisdom can be gleaned from a woman who stood up for her people. {I thought I had a better way of saying that but clearly no).
Blessings!
