Jumbled Thoughts

Awhile back I read The Elsie Dinsmore Series by Martha Finley. I do not usually read fiction too often, but my pastor's wife asked me to read the first one. I spent the summer reading the first 12 books. I HIGHLY recommend these books. The Holy Spirit convicted me on many areas of my life. One in particular was how I spend my Sundays.

In this day and age everything is open and it is so easy to run to Wal-Mart, go out to eat, get gas, etc. During that time in my life, I made sure to have lunch in the crockpot or know what I was cooking so I wasn't tempted to talk my husband into eating out. I even tried to make sure there was gas in the gas tanks, so we wouldn't have to get gas.

This season of my life is different. Because of deputation, we are taken out to eat a lot or we need to get gas to get home. Today we are home, the first Sunday in awhile that we have had no meeting or plans to be somewhere. I woke up at 5:30am (okay, Cody woke me up at 5:30am!!) fed Cody and put a roast in the crockpot. When we got home from church lunch was ready. Pot roast, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions...mmmm. We took naps...okay I took a nap. But even now, I am on the computer, and later we'll probably go to Buckhorn (a local restaurant everyone goes to after church) for a late supper.

I know times are different, but my prayer is to be more sensitive to the Lord's Day, and allow the day to truly be His. Not just Sundays but everyday.

How do you spend your Sundays?

Hi Jen, glad your home. Congrats on the 90%!! You asked so I will share my Sundays. Mostly we eat at home and take naps. Jeremy works third shift so he has to take a nap and we don't like the girls to sleep during church so we make them take a nap. Every once in a while (meaning like 3 times a year, maybe) we might stop to eat if Jeremy gets a craving for steak, but not usually. TTYL

Thank you for sharing. This is something I want to work on more too.

Completely off subject...I am a friend of Jenny (Mommin It Up) and saw your comment about moving to Australia. I was just wondering where? That's where I am from :)

I think we all struggle with this at times. One thing I try to remind myself is that the Lord made this day for us to rest and enjoy Him. If we can keep that at the center of our activities, I think we will be blessed.
