2012 {Not} Back to School Blog Hop

Not Back to School Blog Hop

Curriculum Week

I am linking up today with the {Not} Back to School Blog Hop.

We live in Australia and so we homeschool year-round.  Our school year started on January 30, and will end on December 7.  We have 4 - ten week terms, with lots of holidays and breaks in between, so it's not like we do school 365 days!  Today (Monday) we have off because of Picnic Day!

My son is 4 and in preschool, we are using Answers in Genesis Preschool curriculum.  I highly recommend it!

My daughter is in grade 4 and we use an assortment of curriculum.

Math, Language, and History - Abeka

Science - Apologia (Anatomy)

Spelling and Bible Reading - ACE, School of Tomorrow

Writing - Copywork from the book of Proverbs

Art - Draw, Write, Now and Lapbooks we find online

Thanks for reading!

Hi, Jen! We used Apologia's Anatomy last year and loved it. My kids still talk about the things they learned from it. Hope you have a blessed year!

Jen, We started using Teaching Textbooks math when the girls started highschool. To hear them laughing over ridiculous story problems in Algebra I made me feel so good. Rachel breezed through Algebra II and said it wasn't any different than Algebra I. She is now in Geometry and said it is so much easier than what she thought it would be. The highschool courses are written by Greg and Shawn Sabouri. However they now offer math all the way down to the fourth grade. I love the fact that every single practice, workbook and test problem are solved and explained from a trouble shooting perspective,on computer CDs. It changed Math in our house.

We also like Draw Write Now and lapbooks. Good idea to use Proverbs for copywork!

We like Apologia science also, and choose to school year-round although we live in the states (w/our schedule it enables us to take breaks flexibly as they work best for us).
