The past 6 months or so have brought some life changing events.
- In November I found out that I have a 32 year old brother, who is married with 4 children.
- In January my dad got engaged.
- Tomorrow, my dad is getting married.
I've been asked a lot of how I feel about not only having a new brother but also have a new mom. Honestly? I couldn't be happier. I am so blessed to be in the family that I'm in.
My dad is a very laid-back, easy going person. When he was told he had a 32 year old son (I'll save you the math, he was 16), most men would have panicked. My dad? Nope, he thought it was cool and went with it. Lots of people have been surprised that I wasn't upset about it. First of all, what would being upset do for the situation? So, I'm not the oldest anymore, big deal. I have a new brother, sister-in-law, a nephew, and 3 niece's! Very cool!
About my new "step" mom, Wanda? She is the sweetest lady. I've known her for as long as I can remember. I went to school with her three sons (they're all older than me). I'm still trying to find a fault in her. Last week she was watching Autumn, and Autumn disobeyed Wanda. When Autumn apologized and asked for forgiveness, Wanda said, "If Jesus can forgive me, I can forgive you." Awesome! That's the kind of grandma I want for my kids!
Tomorrow is going to be a great day. I've been praying for my dad to find someone special. Moving to Australia would be much harder if I knew he was alone. Knowing that he has someone taking care of him will make it a little bit easier.
In case you were wondering on my new sibling count, let me help...
- 3 brothers
- 1 half brother
- 3 step brothers
Did you get that? 7 BROTHERS!!! NO sisters...except in-laws. What's up with that?!

Just found your site through the UBP2010 links, and am following you on Google. Would love it if you could follow back!
How wonderful that you are gaining so much in family love right now, and what a sweet thing for Wanda to say to your daughter. (Wanda is my mother's name! :))
I am hosting a Mother's Day Giveaway, and would be thrilled to have you enter to win. :) -- http://www.toriclose.com

Jen,
Wonderful post. Your attitude is beautiful. When are you going to Australia? I haven't read enough of your posts, I guess. My sister-in-law and their family were missionaries in Darwin when our kids were little, and now are in Canada.
Thanks for sharing!
Blessings,
Wendy
