Weekend Update

I feel out of the loop these past few days. I wanted to show you what I've been doing. First, I have to explain why we did all this stuff! A few weeks ago, we got a call from a pastor in Australia, asking if we would house a young Aboriginal man coming to the states for President Obama's inauguration. So, of course, we said yes! Patrick picked him up in DC this past Friday, and we have been trying to do all things "American".

Saturday morning, we took him to Shady Maple Smorgasbord. If you've never head of it, just click the link. It is a ginormous smorgasbord of food. After we were completely stuffed, we went to Patrick's brother's wedding (pics of that are in the post below). Then after the wedding we went to Cabella's.

Sunday morning, we went to our church. It was a really good service, and the message was truly something we needed. After church we went to Heshey, PA. This has to be one of the best towns in the US. You can smell chocolate when you drive through town. It just doesn't get any better than that.

We took the free ride and got some free candy!

(they're here from Florida for the wedding).
Those cute singing Heshey cows.

Our Aboriginal guest, Linden, and Autumn.
Later that day, we took our guest snowtubing. Linden has never seen snow. He grew up in Western Australia, and no snow falls there. He said this was the highlight of his trip. So, it felt pretty good to upstage the President's inaugeration!
Our great group of snowtubers...except Cody, he just wanted to be in the pic!
After snowtubing, we all went out to eat. My dad and some friends met us their. We had a great time of fellowship. I am so thankful for my family and friends!!

This has been an extremely encouraging week. It seems that although we haven't been approved to move yet, God brought a little bit of Australia to us. We have learned so much about the Aboriginal culture and heritage. We've been tremenously blessed having Linden here. I think I may go pack some more boxes!

All familiar sights! :) So, tubing...Roundtop or Avalanche Xpress? :) What a great experience for someone from such a different environment!

I can hear the anxiousness and excitment in your voice. I'm glad you had a good time and I hope you get your visa's soon.

Did you know the letter code thing is back up again where we leave a comment? I thought it was you who said you hated those.

The snowtubing was at Whitetail Ski Resort.

Ellen - although I get annoyed at the letter code thingy, I recently got a lot of weird spam comments, with links and I couldn't delete them. So, I figured I put it back up for awhile.
