My Cup Runneth Over

Tonight, my 6 year old daughter, accepted Christ as her own personal Savior. There is nothing sweeter than hearing a child (especially my own) pray and ask Jesus to come into her heart. The title of my post says it all.

Tonight as we were coming home from church, we were walking across the yard and she said, "I hope I don't fall, I'll die...but at least I'll go to Heaven." I said "As long as you're saved. Have you ever asked Jesus to come into your heart." She said, "I've asked Him lots of times." I said, "You only need to ask Him once. If you want to talk to me about it, remind me when we get inside."

Once we got inside, she kept asking. I told her to get into her jammies while I got Cody to bed. Then I went and checked my email, and she came in and asked again. I wanted to be sure she was serious, plus I was doing a lot of praying for wisdom in the mean time! So, Patrick and I sat on the couch with her. I asked her what she wanted to talk about. She said, "I want to get saved"!! Wow! She went and got my Bible, and we read over a few verses in Romans (the ones there on the right). I explained each one and then questioned her to make sure she understood. Then she said, "I want to pray." So, she did. It was sweet and simple. I was crying, and she was crying. I asked her why she was crying. She said, "Because I am happy".

I have been praying for quite awhile that the Lord would show me she was ready by having her come to us. I didn't want to bring it up, because I knew she would say a prayer because I asked her to. I wanted to be sure she was ready, and the Lord answered my prayer by having her approach us. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really qualified for this mommy thing. There are days when I should've spoken kinder words, or should've spent more time with my kids, or just been more thankful. But God reminded me tonight, that I am a sinner, and He forgives, and His mercies are new every morning. God is so good!

If you listen, you can hear the angels rejoicing! "Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." Luke 15:10

What a blessing, Jen! Praise the Lord! I am so glad that Autumn has accepted Jesus into her heart. There is no greater joy than that!
I think that you and Patrick were wise in not pushing her. She came when she was ready.
What a blessing!

Wow, Praise the Lord! I'm so happy for all of you. I agree with the "wait for them to approach me" approach. Our 2 oldest did and it was a very exciting time. Heidi got saved the week after I had the miscarrage. The Lord I needed a pick me up. I just cried and hugged her. It's awesome. Also, none of us are qualified, it's God's grace and wisdom that gets us through. Enjoy it before their grown and gone.
Congrtulations Autumn!!! We're sisters!!!
